About Us

We’re gonna talk to road drummers, studio drummers, YouTube drummers, drummers in arena bands and drummers on cruise ships.

We’re gonna talk to name drummers and drummers you’ve never heard of, from the OGs of classic rock and disciples of mid-century jazz, to modern heavy hitters, breakbeat technicians and blast-beat athletes.

We’re gonna talk about Japanese taiko drums, Indian tabla, Afro-Cuban traditions and every conceivable African style we can wrap our heads around. We’re gonna talk to players in marching corps and orchestra pits.

We’re gonna talk to drum techs, drum builders, bandleaders, producers and engineers.

We’re gonna talk about all of it because it’s exciting to us, and we think it’ll be exciting to you. Yes, we’ll probably lean heavy on rock traditions. It’s what we grew up with in the Seventies and Eighties. And jazz. From the masters — Elvin, Tony, Buddy, Max (just a few) — to the contemporary players taking “jazz” into exciting and uncharted waters.

Ideally, you too will find inspiration in the experiences of other drummers and percussionists, wherever you are in your enthusiasm. If you’re young and hoping to make a name for yourself, hopefully you can glean wisdom from the OGs hustling and working today. Or from the veterans who’ve reached the mountain top and are looking for their next peak to summit.

Or maybe you just want to hear some debauched stories about life on the road, and how drummers have kept their lives together, or spiraled apart, while navigating the hurricane of fame, respect, adulation. We’re here for that, too.

We’ll talk gear, too. Some gear. We’re not going to obsess on it. There’s plenty of that online already. But we’ll talk about new stuff that sounds interesting or helps drummers further capture and express their ideas.

We hope you’ll come along for the ride.
